Magic has been a big part of Matthew Scherer's life. As a child Matthew kept his magic sets handy, always ready to put on a magic show for relatives and friends. As a teenager Matthew started performing magic shows for local birthday parties, scouting events and church functions. During this time he worked at a local magic shop where he got to meet and learn from a number of professional performers. In his late teens Matthew started working for restaurants performing tableside magic. Just a few of the restaurants that have featured his magic over the years are Connie's Pizza, Max and Erma's and Culver's. During this time he gained a fascination with balloon art and added this to his repertoire. Mr. Scherer creates a wide variety of balloon sculptures and also larger scale designs used for promotions and decoration. He still performs at and helps promote Chicago area restaurants with his magic and balloon artistry.

Mr. Scherer has been performing for over twenty-five years. He has worked for many large corporations and organizations around the Mid-west. For several years one of Mr. Scherer's favorites was performing aboard METRA‚Äôs Operation Lifesaver, Santa Safety Trains for thousands of families during the holiday season. Throughout the year you can find Matthew performing at various fair and festival venues around Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Mr. Scherer has won awards in the performance of close-up and stage magic. He has been a board member of the Society of American Magicians, Chicago and Joliet Assemblies and a national officer for the Mid-western region.

Mr. Scherer strives to keep the magic tradition alive as a performance art that can be enjoyed by all ages. He encourages and educates people young and old to learn magic as a hobby and skill.
